Nonviolence training is a spiritual practice that helps us live into the vision of Agape and Universal Love taught in the Gospels. In times of crisis we rarely rise to our highest aspirations. We often revert to our training. Our hearts and souls have the blueprint for nonviolence but our culture tends to train us into paths of conflict and scarcity. Studying and practicing the Spiritual Path of Nonviolence brings us closer to our goal.
Nonviolence Training takes us through an in-depth exploration of the work, thought, and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Diane Nash, Ella Baker, and many other inspiring people. We learn six principles and how to apply them in our spiritual lives.
The Six Principles of Kingian Nonviolence are:
- Nonviolence is a way of life for courageous people
- The Beloved Community is the framework for the future
- Attack the forces of evil, not the persons doing evil
- Accept physical suffering, without retaliation, for the sake of the cause to achieve the goal.
- Reject internal violence of the Spirit along with external physical violence.
- The Universe is on the side of Justice.
